is 3
Time
NASCAR
Craftsman
Truck
Series
Champion,
Ron
Hornaday.
Along
a
racers
career
he/she
develops
a fan
base,
and
some
are,
aspiring
up
and
coming
drivers.
Karting
is
where
most
young
drivers
get
their
start,
and
in
the
Antelope
Valley,
these
drivers
compete
at a
track
known
as,
Willow
Springs
Raceway.
In
the
Willow
Springs
Karting
Club,
there
are
many
who
admire
hometown
hero,
Ron
Hornaday,
but
one
driver
in
fact
shows
it
every
time
he
hits
the
track,
his
name,
Jameson
Spies.
Jameson
shows
his
fanship
by
way
of
running
the
number,
33.
This
season,
Jameson
drove
his
#33
Senior
Superbox
Kart
to a
2007
Championship,
as
Hornaday
drove
his
#33
Craftsman
Truck
to
his 3rd
Championship
in
the
series.
Jameson
claimed
4th
in
the,
Tag
Light
division,
where
he
also
runs
the
#33.
Known
to
most
Hornaday
fans
as of
lately,
new
up
and
coming
driver,
National
Karting
Champion,
and
Hornaday
Fan,
Misty
Balser.
Misty
hails
from,
Saugus
California,
home
of
Saugus
Speedway,
the
track
in
which
Ron
Hornaday
cut
his
teeth
at,
and
host
one
of
the
first
NASCAR
Truck
Series
events.
The
same
year
the
short
track
closed,
Misty
Balser
was
born.
Balser
has
made
a
name
for
herself
in
the
Antelope
Valley,
last
year
she
claimed
two
titles
at
the
local
track.
This
year,
Balser
did
it
again,
and
is a
Double,
Two
Time
Track
Champion.

These
aspiring
drivers
look
at
someone
like,
Hornaday,
being
from
the
same
area,
in a
different
light
then
they
would,
let’s
say,
Kevin
Harvick
or
Jimmie
Johnson.
They,
Harvick
and
Johnson
were
aspiring
drivers
themselves,
and
found
their
way
to
the
home
of,
Ron
Hornaday,
in
Mooresville,
North
Carolina.
Hornaday,
known
as
The
Professor
of
NASCAR,
housed
a
young
Johnson
&
Harvick,
labeling
his
home
as,
“Camp
Hornaday!”
Former
driver,
now
NCTS
Crew
Chief,
Lance
Hooper
spent
time
at
the
camp
as-well
as
many
other
drivers.
Hornaday
has
had a
long
road
to
the
top,
but
this
past
Monday
evening,
Hornaday
was
number
1 on
the
stage.
Hornaday,
to
some
is
another
driver
in
the
truck
series,
to
some,
he is
someone
they
remember
at
the
local
short
tracks,
and
some,
as
Misty
and
Jameson,
look
at
Hornaday
as a
Hero.
Side
Note:
Harvick
won
the
Daytona
500,
Balser
won 3
titles
(she
won a
title
in
Bakersfield
this
year
as-well
as
Willow)
Jameson
win a
title
at
Willow,
Hornaday
wins
the
NCTS
title,
and
Johnson
won
the
Cup
title.
Are
ya
with
me?
Hornaday
helped
pave
the
path
for
up
and
coming
west
coast
drivers,
and
these
days,
the
road
is
getting
resurfaced
every-year.
From
the
Antelope
Valley,
to
Race
City
USA,
the
road
is
rough,
and
the
turns
are
tight,
but
the
race
is
on!
